Polybutylene Pipes

We recently had all of the plumbing in our house replaced. Our house was originally plumbed with polybutylene pipes, which are prone to random leaks. We woke up on the last morning of our 'vacation at home' to find a large water leak over our dining room table. We decided to have the whole system replaced, rather than risk further damage to our house. Apparently this is a very common thing, and many homes that were built in the 70's 80's and early 90's were plumbed with poly pipes. They are a ticking time bomb, and we are glad to be rid of them. We had new CPVC Flowguard pipes put in.
The plumbing guys had to cut holes in our walls to get to our pipes. A drywall crew came in the next day and patched the holes, and a paint crew came in the following Monday to repaint our walls. It went very smoothly and we were quite pleased with the work. The following pictures are of our house during the construction.
